October 26/27 - Relaunch - We celebrated the completion of the Project with a formal opening ceremony on Saturday and a grand opening party, showing off the hall.   <<more>>

August 2013 - New extension in use - The Shiplake WI were the first to have access to the new facilities, on 21st August.

August 2013 - Main Hall make-over - A task force of Hall members spent a week cleaning and decorating the old Main Hall in readiness for the autumn hire season.

June 2013- Phase A Excellent Progress Continues - Roofs complete, first fix electrics and plumbing complete and plastering under way

May 2013- Extensive water damage is discovered – During the initial Phase B dismantling work, extensive and unforeseen water damage to joists and their supporting beams was discovered, necessitating considerable extra work

May 2013- Building work starts on phase B – BlueQube Construction started work on Phase B - replacement of the flat roofs on the playing field side of the hall

January 2013 - Building work starts - On 28th January BlueQube Construction started work on Phase A.

December - Contract Placed - Phase A building contract placed, starting on 28th Jan 2013 with option to include phase B

November - Only £10,000 needed - Additional grants & donations bring fund to within £10,000 needed for phase A

October - Builder Selected - Building re-tenders received, Phase A builder selected

July - Local charitable family trust increases its promise to £100,000.

June - Grant approved SODC approves our £100k grant request.

February 2012 - 17 Solar pv panels installed to meet the Hall's energy needs.

October 2011 - SHADDO, the local amdram group, hosts a themed Murder Mystery play on 29th October.

September 2011 - Futures website launched.

Welcome to this special website about our project to modernise Shiplake Memorial Hall.


The project was started in 2011 and came to fruition, with generous support from many parts of the community, with a grand relaunch in October 2013. In these pages you will find information about the Hall, our original plans for modernisation, what it cost us and a pictorial record of the construction phase.
